For over 30 years Kathy worked as a Set Decorator in film and television, earning an Emmy nomination in 2001. Since retiring, Kathy uses the skills she cultivated as a set decorator in the entertainment industry as a fine art photographer today.
In this interview Kathy, talks about her series Memories and Demons, which explores themes related to child abuse, childhood trauma and the resulting darkness that may persist afterwards. She also discusses her series Make Believe which explores the role of imagination in child development.
In addition to this, Kathy discusses the techniques that she employs behind her finished images. She explains her process from planning, prepping the dolls, shooting and post processing. Kathy has over 80 dolls which she uses for her work.
