The ancient temple of Wat Mahathat located in Ayutthaya (former capital of Siam, now known as Thailand) was built in the 14th century. As I explored these ruins I came upon a giant buddha head engulfed in roots.
According to legend, the burmese army had destroyed the temple in the 18th century. It was left untouched and was swallowed by jungle until the 1950s. Before its re-discovery a thief/treasure hunter had stolen the massive buddha head, and had hidden and forgotten it in the dark jungle.
I was inspired by how like an unending dream, over decades, the jungle and nature had fused itself with the ancient head. This video shows how the completed photomontage was constructed in photoshop using additional travel photos taken in India and California.
